Sorry for the lack of updates recently, Labor Day weekend was busy. Anyways, I took a trip to the Darr Mine site in Van Meter/Rostraver/Jacob's Creek, Westmoreland County, PA. The Darr Mine was the site of the worst coal mining disaster in Pennsylvania history. On December 19, 1907, an explosion killed 239 men and boys. The mine is located a few miles from my girlfriend's house, so we took a trip to check it out. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the main entrance to the mine, but did scope out the other remains of the mining facilities. The place was pretty eery but very cool. Old remains and historical places have always fascinated me. Don't mind the picture quality, they were taken with my phone (Nexus One). Need a DSLR!
